1. AT THE PHARMACY
1

The other day I went to the pharmacy to pick up a medication and got into a confusing situation.

2

At first, I felt helpless as I didn’t understand what had happened,

3

but then I took a moment to calm down and began to piece things together.

4

It was good practice to improve my English.

5

As an example I wrote the following dialogue .

6

Could you help me to voice one of the roles?

7

At the pharmacy

8

Assistant: Good evening! How can I help you today?

9

Me: I’m looking for my prescription.

10

I’ve got a message that it was ready.

11

Assistant: Let me have a look, just a second.

12

So, the assistant who took your order is out today.

13

So sorry. You can come back in a couple of days to pick up your order or you can order an extra prescription from your GP.

14

Me: But I need the medication today, what do you recommend?

15

Assistant: If you need the medication today, I recommend calling your GP’s office and explaining the situation.

16

Me: Actually, that’s impossible at the moment.

17

It’s evening and GPs aren’t working now. I’m so sorry!

18

Me: Could I speak to a senior member of staff?

19

Assistant: Sure, if you must. Olivia, could you come here for a moment, please?

20

Olivia: Good evening! My name is Olivia. Let me have a look at your prescription?

21

Me: Good evening, Olivia! Certainly, here is my prescription.

22

Olivia: So, we’re able to view your prescription, but unfortunately, we’re unable to process it at the moment.

23

Well, may I kindly suggest that you consider submitting your prescription to another pharmacy?

24

Would that be acceptable to you?

25

Me: Yeah, it was lovely.

26

Olivia: Here you go, please take your new prescription.

27

Me: Thank you very much. Have a good one!

28

Olivia: Have a wonderful evening!
